A good mornings work on Sólmara. I made an outboard mount for the pushpit. Having the engine in a well has its advantages, but there’s no room to tilt the leg out of the water when it’s in there. Now, I can pull the engine out when berthed and avoid all the fouling and electrolysis issues.

Moved Sólmara to a new winter berth in Falmouth Marina. She’s now outside the tidal sill, which means more opportunities to sail 😁⛵️

You Must Capture Your Ideas

Capture ideas immediately in a reliable format, then review them soon so valuable thoughts aren’t lost.

As paradoxical as it sounds, going down a path and not finding a track is part of finding a track…… No action is considered a waste, and the key is to keep moving, readjusting, welcoming feedback. The ‘path of not here’ is part of the ‘path of here’.

I cross this footbridge over the River Kennall on my 🧠 Thinking Walk 🚶🏻‍♂️. It’s a crossing in both senses. On the far side, I’m somewhere else, in body and mind. Where do you do your best thinking?

A nice charity shop find to add to my local history book collection.

From ‘The Art of Being Ruled’ published in 1926 - ‘Remember the machines! would be a good watchword. We are imbuing them with our own soullessness. We only have ourselves to thank if things turn out badly as a result’. - Amazingly relevant 100 years later eh?

Quarter-share in a boat anyone? Joking apart, a sad end to what, in her day, would have been a lovely vessel.

A weathered, partially broken boat is shown on a trailer in a marina, with several other boats and clear blue skies in the background.

Getting some much needed air through Sólmara’s cabin. She’s been neglected again of late. I need to get her out sailing again soon.

Falmouth looking non too shabby for 1st November
