At one time sizeable cargo vessels regularly navigated the Carrick Roads and Truro river right up to the city itself (10 miles from the sea). Recently the ‘National Geographic Endurance’ became the first cruise ship ever to pass Turnaware Point and into the river. A real treat for the passengers.
