A week ago I set out to answer two questions 1. Who am I? 2. What do I want to write about? It’s taken many days at my desk, many hours of sleepless thought, countless notes written and erased, but at last I have the answers. Now, finally, I can get to work.
After a solid morning at my desk I really needed my 🧠Thinking Walk🚶🏻♂️. Managed to sneak it in between heavy downpours. The river is beginning to flow again. Brown is starting to replace green. I startled a heron (and he startled me).
“As the hound obeys the hunter’s horn call, so I’m called back home to Cornwall.” Last night, The Countrymen Band brought me to tears. I’ve sailed out of Falmouth Bay twice with no plans to return, a fool searching for freedom. Fifty years of leaving and returning. And here I am again.
Enjoying a brilliant concert by The Countrymen. Songs of Cornwall and the sea. Miners, wreckers and sailors. Standing stones and the nearly home trees (If you know, you know!)
Steve Jobs said you can only connect the dots looking backwards. I’ve just mapped 69 years of my life in Aeon Timeline: 220 events, some forgotten, others misremembered. Now I can see the connections, the patterns, and how one thing led to another. An extraordinary experience.
Two years to the day since I saved a little sailboat from her abandonment on the River Thames near London. It was a rescue mission for her and a mission that rescued me.
Woke to the coldest morning since end of April (5°C / 41℉). Bit of a shock to the system, particularly so as we’ve had exceptionally warm nights of late. Normal service has been resumed it seems.
